March Outing

-->Saturday (I wrote this yesterday but I didn't have a chance to post it)
Today I had fun FuN FUN! Now the blood in my veins is being pumped to its limits, intoxicated with an intense dosage of euphoria. However, my throat is rather itchy from 3 hours of ‘singing’, which is defined as screeching and screaming our lungs out, and also all the non-stop talking (well, it was mainly Eu Chern who did the talking, which were stories about the weird and dislikeable girl, *********, in his class).

So, today, the March Outing, was technically defined by one word: Karaoke. And I enjoyed myself a lot. In fact, so much that I begun to miss it as soon as we stepped out of the place. Yerp. You heard right. Ying Hui had joined the ranks of Amanda, Joanna, Jing Hua, Eu Chern and Chee Kin to get high and loose herself in a Karaoke session and she totally, 100%-ly loved every second of it. Of course, this was mostly because there were only four Chinese songs (Chinese characters stress my eyes and burden my brain to decipher them) and one Japanese song present. Plus, out of the 95% of the remaining songs, I knew and sang more than half of them.

Me, Amanda and Eu Chern, being the first to arrive, started the party with ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ by Fergie, ‘Rehab’ by Amy Winehouse and then one of my top listed songs ‘Apologize’ by One Replubic (Eu Chern thought it was sloppy and slow, screw him for that). Chee Kin came when we were on our 4th or 5th song, though things only went wild after Joanna arrived. With her to flank me (or vice versa), I had the chance to torture my throat and ‘sing’ all the rock songs, including ‘Bleed It Out’, ‘In The End’ and ‘Somewhere I Belong’ by Linkin Park, ‘It’s My Life’ by Bon Jovi, ‘I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing’ by Aerosmith and a couple of Nickelback’s hits (I just mumbled through them coz I didn’t know the lyrics).

I must say, Joanna was HIGH. Like she had taken some ecstasy pills or something. One moment she was laying back on the couch and the next moment she was jumping to the beat of the music, screaming her poor lungs out and moving her limbs in some unknown movement. But that wasn’t all, oh no. Her peak moment was when she went HYPERVENTILATING before, during and after the Bon Jovi song! Before: “OhmyGodohmyGodohmyGod! It’s Bon Jovi! My song! My song!” During: Loudest voice amongst us. After: “I LOVE this song! Play it again! Play it again!” (or something along those lines) My God, I didn’t even so much gave a squeal when I saw ‘Apologize’ came onto the screen. Okay, it was a slow song, but you get my drift.

By the time we finally decided to leave, it was half an hour past our time slot, making it 2.30pm and making all of our stomachs grumbled. We strode over to the New Wing, took a glance around, found that the food were too expensive, agreed to eat at Esquire Kitchen and walked back to the Old Wing, where we ended up slumping down in Pizza Hut instead. While we ate, Eu Chern continued bitching like diarrhoea about that ********* weirdo and sometimes turned around to check coz he said everytime he talked bad about her, she would just materialize out of nowhere and appear behind him or something. Creepy.

Anyway, when we were standing outside Pizza Hut after we ate, trying to decide what to do next, a person from Pizza Hut came up to us and asked whether we (me, Amanda, Jing Hua and Joanna) want to help their survey by tasting their sample food. We agreed to, but later on they said they only needed 2 of us so only Jing Hua and Joanna went. After both of them went in (to the kitchen I think), the 4 of us took some photos before me and Amanda left, taking a taxi back to her place, which cost us RM8.50 each. Fuck that taxi driver. We didn’t have much choice though, most of them didn’t go to Taman Megah.

To Amanda: Thank you so much for accompanying me back and very sorry that you had to join me and missed out on rest of the outing (I wonder what they did)! Lurv ya! BFF;-)
**********************************************************
We bloody did it. We joined in on the awareness campaign across the world and switched off our electricity for an hour, 8pm-9pm, which was called the ‘Earth Hour’, the purpose being to show concern at global warming.

Thank God we finished our dinner long before that and our maid had done washing our plates, so we kept our promise and off the lights at 8pm sharp. After we were in darkness, my sis and bro took the opportunity to play with the aroma candles (the ones in a tin container, not the nice smelling ones), lighting a few of them at once, chucking them all over the place and lighting more when there weren’t enough. Me, my mom and dad laid on the sofa and relaxed coz somehow the living room was breezy and cooling.

After a while I went to play the piano, using torchlight to light up my piano score but I couldn’t last long coz the piano area was hot like hell, causing me to sweat all over. So I stayed on the sofa for the remaining time, watching my sis and bro playing chess. Talk about efficient (for both of them, I mean).

Well, that was mostly what we did the whole hour, nothing much in one way (we practically couldn’t do anything in the darkness) yet a lot in the other (we helped save electricity and created awareness for global warming). To be frank, I wouldn’t really mind to spend an hour everyday without electricity. I mean, if I couldn’t live up to the hour with all the heat, I could just walk over to 1U for the paid air-con, right?

Everyone's favourite part of the post: photos!

No...my camera wasn't tilted. She really was LYING DOWN and singing heavenwards...

Ying Hui's first time driving

My left ankle is sore from bending, my eyes are strained open from having to watch out for every single (even the teensy-weensy) bit of obstacle and my mind is befuddled and clogged up from juggling between listening to instructions, trying to carry out them by manning my still-asleep hands and legs and thinking for myself about the next step.

Despite all the damage to my body, I’m proud to announce that Tham Ying Hui had not-quite-successfully manoeuvred a car, a Kancil to say the least, around her housing area more than 10 rounds, which made her looked like she was lost in the middle of a dense jungle and couldn’t get out. Yes, I bloody did that.

And I must say, driving is definitely an excellent way to wake me up, as in the fully-alert kind, in the morning, even if I just got out of bed for half an hour (actually it was longer than that, but you get my drift) and was aching and resisting the urge to crawl back to bed and the cool comfort of my sanctuary.

You know, when I was pulled to consciousness around 9am this morning, the first thought was like, Shit! I’m going driving today! Oh no, someone will probably get rolled over by me! Yeah. How negative am I? But I dozed off to La La Land again (my latest habit) till about 9.40am when I forced myself out of bed, with much effort, to get ready. 50 minutes to go. Gah!

So I waited, till more or less 10.50am when a white Kancil paused at my neighbour’s place and horned. Doomed. I quickly entered the car and Mr Eric drove to the playground behind my house. He then ran though all the basics with me while I tried to register as much information as I could with my hazy mind. No chance. After he was done, my brain still contained 0% of what he said. Thank God he wrote everything down, or at least what was extremely important, like the steps I should take when I just got into the car, after I started the engine and when I need to stop the vehicle. There was so much to absorb!

I tried to remember as much as I could coz I suspected he was going to hand me the wheel. And he did. He went, “好啦, 到你驾车!” and stepped out of the car. Crap. This is it, I thought. Panicked, I plonked onto the driver’s seat and gingerly pulled the seat belt out of my ass. “Eh, adjust 你的椅子.” Right. I was getting to that, thank you. But I adjusted it anyway, then strapped the seat belt across my torso and checked all 3 mirrors.

And the real first lesson begun. I started with testing to use the accelerator with my right foot then changed to the brake and back again, for a couple of times. Then I moved on to the clutch with my left foot and switching gears. I got a bad feeling that my left leg is longer than my right coz somehow my right foot fitted just comfortably on the accelerator and the brake with my left foot seemed squashed back everytime I released the clutch.

Anyway, I later went on to bring the car forward then reversed and did this for a few tries. Soon enough, off I drove, with the 1st gear around the playground. And around and around and around and around. Then I made a bigger circle by driving past my house. With about 7 rounds done and litters of fuel (okay, maybe not that much) wasted, I drove straight after coming out of 2/2 and turned right into 2/5, where I encircled the playground there, including a row of houses. I really wonder what people thought of a tiny white Kancil driving past their house more than 3 times, though I suppose seeing the huge red L would pretty much explained everything.

Well, so I drove for a wee more than an hour, making my head spun out of confusion over what my limbs needed to do all the while. Just as I turned into my lane for perhaps the 20th time, Mr Eric finally muttered the magical words, 好啦,今天驾到这里为止.” Hallelujah! And I gratefully and cautiously drove back to my house, went into free gear and pulled the brake. I survived! Fine, it wasn’t that bad. After scheduling my next lesson, which would be tomorrow morning, about 9am, right after Amanda, I limped slightly back into the house and slumped down in front of the computer, where I wrote this.

A Girls' Day Out

It's long past midnight now and I'm getting drowsy by the minute. Nonetheless, I wanna make use of my blog-mood to blog about today's outing with a couple of my girl friends (pardon me if I sound homosexual).

So, me and Xiao Chin arrived a wee bit too early at the Curve this morning (around 10.40am) and wandered around aimlessly coz Amanda had to wait for Shien Yin to reach home at 11am (though she later profusely denied it when questioned). In the end, we went to Borders and amused ourselves with the 'toys' or 'inventions' at the Memory Lane section. You had no idea how hard I had to fight the urge to treat myself to Starbucks (it's part of Borders, in a way). The coffee smell was so intoxicating...

Anyway, Amanda, Shien Yin and Shi Ning reached around 11.25am and off we went to RedBox (Shi Ning and Shien Yin strongly pressed on this). For no apparent reason or request, we were given a considerably wide room with 4 separate coffee tables at the centre. I can't remember all of the songs (er duh? who has the ability to?) but I know we started off with The Great Escape by Boys Like Girls to 'warm up our vocals', while everyone picked their lunches and drinks. And I'm proud to say that the first song we (or at least me and Amanda did) sang was Apologize by (supposedly) One Republic featuring Timbaland (not vice versa)! I L.O.V.E. that song (though I must say my current obssession is With Me by Sum 41)!

Actually, we did Karaoke the whole day (till 3pm) so this is more or less the end of my blog. Wait! The best part has yet to come: Photos! Viola and be entertained (by some)!

Well, that's all for now, folks! There're still a couple of photos I didn't get to upload but I'll try to put them at my MSN space blog as soon as I can. As for the other 4 co-stars of this post, if you're interested in getting the photos, just tell me and I'll emailed them to you!

HELP!

Okay...12 hours from now, I'll be either extremely elated, shouting for joy and going out with everyone for lunch to celebrate OR I'll be on the verge of breaking down, never wanting to face the world again. Right. Oh God. I'm now standing on the line between tranquility and plain panic. And because I accidentally took a nap in the afternoon, I'm currently in no need of sleep. Fuck. Someone PLEASE give a shot of anaesthetic! S'il vous plait!

Anyone having a heart attack yet?

Lost. Again.

So I'm back to asking myself the same question. Again. Is music REALLY what I want in life? Will I be happy with my decision? Can I go far in this field? Okay, so that's more than 1 question, but that's not the point. The point is whether to go on with the decision I've made.

Sheesh...how much longer do I have to deal with this? I've been through this like, a million times? I thought I'm done choosing a couple of days ago, when I called up the college to arrange an audition (though I'm not sure whether I'll pull it through) for the course. But then my mom decided to bring me to some fortune telling thing, during which the lady told me that I'm suitable in pursuing music, though I'll also fare well in subjects with chemistry, like chemial engineering and nutritionist, which can help me earn big bucks. And THAT got me started thinking AGAIN. Gah.

I mean, yeah, I know money shouldn't be the first on my priority list when making a choice on a course, it's whether I enjoy what I'm pursuing so that I won't end up like high school, during which I hated my acedemic life for the last 2 years coz I've been forced to study the things I didn't enjoy (e.g. Sejarah and Physics and Chinese). Fine, maybe I'm not cut out for Science, much less in college but this is not the first time someone told me I should consider nutritionist (among them was my piano teacher) or something sciencey coz it will help me secure a better and probably easier life in the future.

Okay...let's make a list:
Reasons to choose it
Music
1) Something I love and enjoy doing
2) Might have a chance to travel
3) Less possibilities of working in an office

Courses with chemistry
1) Have a more secure career path
2) Bigger earnings (most though not all)
3) Might not have to stay in a hostel that is so expensive and so far from everyone

Reasons not to
Music
1) Most musician's steady income comes from teaching, which is one of my last options at the
moment

Courses with chemistry
1) Have to deal with science for the rest of my life (though not so much if I pick nutrition)
2) Might have to work in an office (and I HATE working in offices, 1 month working at a legal
firm had decided that for me)

And...? Judging from this table, seems like it's still music for me, right? Or maybe I'm just digging points for it since it's my current decision. Well, now I'm turning to you guyz, all my awesome friends who have known me throughout my high school life and probably understand my character and personalities better than myself (maybe not as well as the fortune teller but I don't think I'm supposed to tell you what she said), any advice for your lost friend here?

The Ying Hui and Amanda Day

Ah yes. Today's the Ying Hui and Amanda Day again, a day of quality time for the 2 of us. It has been quite a while since we last did this, which was 31st of December 2007, though there's no fixed date to celebrate this occasion.

So, we spent the 1st day of March watching the rather-newly-released Step Up 2: The Streets, during which Amanda pointed out to me a cute guy, Moose, whose real name is Adam G. Sevani. The dancing was really engaging, though not so with the plot (I prefer the Step Up 1 plot). The sad part is, the hunk Channing Tatum only appeared like mere 10 minutes throughout the whole movie. Heck.

Oh, I forgot to mention that before the movie, we had a sugar lunch. Quite literally. We went to Big Apple and got ourselves 3 doughnuts each (cheaper than buying 4 doughnuts separately), then to Coffee Bean to treat ourselves to a Regular cup of ice-blended Belgian Chocolate coffee each. Trust me, it was a torture to eat 3 doughnuts consecutively. They were sickeningly sweet, I tell you. And they made me satiated even as I was finishing my 2nd one. The partially-sweet-partially-bitter coffee didn't help much in washing them down either. Ugh... Mental note to myself: NEVER EVER consume more than 2 doughnuts in one shot, could result in longing for salty food.

Anyway, after the movie, we went roaming about looking for a suitable salon to cut my hair but failed to find one coz it was either too expensive or haircut by a junior stylist. We ended up enquiring for a job at the Kidz Sport & Gym beside Popular. Thank God we didn't need to do a walk-in interview or something.

We continued on to Popular, where we looked at books and Amanda checked out the price for the DVD of Jay's 2007 concerts in Shang Hai and Taiwan. Then, we walked all the way to MPH (which was at the other end of the whole 1U empire), where there was some sales going on with 10% off for all books (members have 15% off) but we didn't get any, instead I got stickers worth RM2.50. Yay!

Well, the outing kind of ended when I had to go for my viola class, which was at Mirado, the same row as Popular (my legs so didn't need all that trudging). So yeah, that was all.
