The visit

Tuesday (28/10):
And so came my sis to my campus for that insane 3 days 2 night 'field trip' of hers. Didn't do much that day other than touring the place and making a visit to the nearby Giant to replenish my apparent depleting stock of junk food.

The gym. See that area above the Digi advertisement? Yeah. That's where I work out during my free time.

One of the computer rooms in the computer lab.

I think she was on Facebook

School of Fashion?

Examination hall. We snuck up to the forbidden floor for like, 2 minutes. Don't look at me! She insisted it!

FYI, my bed's on the right. Neat and tidy, ain't it? NOT. My sis even bombarded a portion of my roommate's desk with that toaster of mine!

Wednesday (29/10):
I swear, my room is a hell of heat-trapper. It's like living in a mild sauna in the morning, then a preheated oven by mid morning, a porcelain heater all through the afternoon and, even during the night, a thermoflask or some sort, keeping the hot air trapped in the room until it's literally impossible to sleep. What the heck happened to the continuous downpour of the monsoon season since the week before last?! I miss that! At least the air stayed cool all day long and I don't sweat like a pig and had my hair matted to my head. I hate smelling like dung.

Anyway, I pitied my sis, being cooked up in my room like a chicken being roasted over a fire. The suffering would be less had she came last week. Oh well. So, we spent as much time outside (and I don't mean sunbathing, mind you) as possible, taking a looooooong lunch (by chewing endlessly on the food) and lingering in air-conditioned shops, like Watson, on the way back to the campus.

At Fun OK (try saying it in Cantonese)

Vanilla milkshake, provides enough glucose for your body to last at least a month

I would probably say the same for my Blue Mountain drink

'Da bao' the milkshake. Saved all the fuss, and not to mention plastic bag.

Reached the hostel around 4pm, took a short nap, a quick shower and then it was pasar malam time! Seriously, even the press of bodies and the heat coming from the 'open-cooking' couldn't beat the heat in my room. Sheesh.

Thursday (30/10):
My sis couldn't be more thrill to leave one place. Especially when we were heading to a place with an opposite climate - the ice-skating rink! It might as well snow.

But first thing's first, lunch at Secret Recipe!
The sinfully delicious seafood macoroni with cheese

My expression said it all

Sis requested to take a photo with Joanne, so I had one taken too =)

In case you're wondering, I wasn't drenched in sweat. I just had my bath

One and a half hour later...
If only it was frigid cold in there...

An update, finally

Monday (13/10):
Had the first quiz for Probability and Statistics, which was considered disturbingly late. I mean, most of the subjects are already having, or will be having, MIDTERMS. Not that I'm at all anxious about it or in the least bit a worshipper of the subject, I'm simply just not a fan of what the short semester people are currently going through: sitting for their finals barely 2 weeks after midterms. Though I doubt that would happen to us. But still.

The quiz was easy, to say the least. It was like retaking Add Maths all over again, in a simpler version. And no, I ain't boasting. Other than the awfully detailed steps and non-sensical formulas, it was merely the careful poking of calculator buttons. Seriously.

Tuesday (14/10):
Seems like Tuesday is our unofficial Pool Day. Either Ms Hazlin was in an oddly bright mood, or that she didn't have the mood to lecture, or simply because she finished lecturing what she intended to lecture, we were let out an hour and a half earlier. Weeeee...So to Fireball we went. And we brought along a 'Special Guest', and his friend, too (eyebrows arch knowingly at Wen Dee).

I must say, my skills fluctuated a lot. In one game I was hitting 3 balls consecutively and I was missing almost every single shot in the other. It was interesting playing against Stephan and Timothy from Foundation I, but, honestly, they shouldn't be allowed to stand next to each other. Everytime they did, Jia Wen and I couldn't score at all. And they kept scrutinizing us, purposefully staring with feigned concentration when it was our turn to strike, then gloated when we didn't score. *Rolls eyes* But they were sociable and friendly people, seeing as it was their first time playing pool, or even mixing, with us.

Wednesday (15/10):
Classes were usual. Had a replacement class for choir. Pasar malam sucked though. Thanks to the heavy downpour, the asphalt was slippery and wet, with muddy sludges of God-knows-what. Plus, we went right after the rain stopped, so plenty of the stalls were not open yet. In the end, I bought myself a chocolate ice bubble drink and ordered some food from a cafe at the doorstep of the campus. So much for my long-awaited junk food shopping at the night market.

Thursday (16/10):
Happy 18th Birthday, Bi Ying!

Went for lunch at Leisure Mall to celebrate the Yellow Girl's BIG 18! And just for the occasion, those who were informed tried our best to find and wear a yellow shirt/blouse, the birthday girl's favourite colour. On the full scale, the whole table looked rather yellowish indeed (okay, that came out wrong).

The only let-down of the day was the patience-testingly, blood-boilingly late arrival of our food. Well, maybe not mine, and Andrew's and Bi Ying's and Rays', since I ordered early. But the rest of the party (there were 12 of us in total) had to wait more or less an hour and a half for their orders! Apparently, the machine had some set-back or some shit. Meaning, their orders weren't sent in. What the heck! Everyone was so damn pissed off.

But let's forget about that. We just have to avoid going to that restaurant in the near future.

Hope you had a great time, Bi Ying!
(Photos will be uploaded once the birthday girl sent them to me)

Friday (17/10):
Our choir concert of the semester again (short semester for the Degree students)! Meaning, no more choir classes after this week! Cheers!

Okay, choir wasn't so bad after all, what with grumpy Ian teaching us only 1 of the 2 classes in a week and Cikgu Vincent the other, it was just the time slot that annoyed me. I mean, who with a sane mind would want to travel all the way to college on a Friday evening? And for merely 2 bloody hours? Not to mention the times when the class ended early and those people driving had to get stuck in the jam on the way home. Talk about time planning.

Anyway, all's well, ends well. The whole concert took a little over 45 minutes perhaps. Even my family came, partly to boost my attendance, partly to fetch me home. Plus, my sis wanted to see for herself the 'honorable Kang'. It was said he was 1 of the judges for the MSSD/MSSS choir she took part in (or was it Ian?).

Here's some photos:

Exhilarating. Exulting. Exuberating.

Woohoo! I'm feeling so damn high now, even if my eyelids are heavy and threatening to slam shut at any moment. And I know very well I'll probably wake up to sore muscles and a bruised right butt cheek tomorrow morning but I don't give a shit (I'll deal with it when the pain hits) coz I've just spent 4 hours/240 minutes/14400 seconds ICE-SKATING! During which I taught Wen Dee to skate, savoured being on ice by gliding around on my own and also swished around the rink at a breakneck speed (for me, that is), raced Andrew in some form of tag, skated 6 then 5 lapses continuously with Andrew and Kevin and simply hung out and had fun with everyone else, on ice and on land.

It was a smooth-skating day, without the tuna-pack crowd of the weekends. Plus, not many skaters were clinging onto the railing, which helped when I needed to brake myself by crashing into it (I couldn't seem to stop when I was speeding). Too bad some random guy slammed into me, causing me to bruise my butt and ruining my record of not falling. And the guy wasn't even hot. Gah.

Poor Jia Wen, though. She kept slipping and falling every few minutes, which reminded me of what I've been through during the dark days of my skating lessons (probably much worst), and by the time we left the rink, her jeans were soaked icy wet, freezing her legs so much that she bought a pair of shorts to change into. Funny how everyone only thought of bringing extra shirt and not pants.

Anyway, here are some photos:

It was past 8pm when we got to Asia Court and settled down along 2 or 3 tables. Hungry, huNGrY, HUNGRY!!!

I reached the hostel about 10.30pm, dropped off by Kevin and his jeep, feeling wore out but, at the same time, hyped up. This is like, the best Thursday of 2008. So far.

P.S. Thank you soooo much Wen Dee, Rachel and Kevin for the lift! I owe you guys!
P.P.S. Argh! I've found a tiny blister on 1 of my left toe!

Pool

Ah, another spur-of-the-moment outing. Just that this time it was only playing a couple of games of pool in some 'pool club' called Fireball, located paces away from our campus. Still, I learnt something new. I finally knew how to play pool (I know, I'm damn innocent).

Anyway, Film & Arts Appreciation ended almost immediately after Ms. Hazlin exploded with rage coz we people sitting at the back row simply couldn't stop talking. I mean, the class was 3 hours long, for God's sake! Unless she wouldn't mind massaging our numb butts or screen us an attention-capturing film instead of projecting lecture notes when we could get it from eAdvantage, how could we possibly concentrate?! So, we got dismissed, like, an hour earlier. Yay!

If whoever suggested pool hadn't suggested it fast enough, I would have flew back to my room to take a nap and my dinner before my piano class. Amazing how the influential word 'pool' was. By the time we got out of the door, there were already a bunch of us going. We headed straight for Fireball.

At first, there were only the 8 of us at the 'pool club'; Andrew and Kevin shared a table; I was with Eunice, Wen Dee and Bi Ying; Rachel and Jia Wen waited for the 2 guys to finish. Since I had never touched pool before, Eunice taught me (and Bi Ying and Wen Dee) the basic R&R, like how the balls had 2 types, striped and solid colour, and how the 1st ball to get shot in would determine which person/team hit which type of ball. Plus, she guided us throughout the games. So, thanks ya, Eunice =)

After about half an hour (and Ming joined us), the place started to get crowded, with all sorts of people filtering in, including bastards who smoked. Seriously, it was stuffy enough without the lung cancer-making cigarette smoke. Soon, we couldn't take it anymore and paid up and left. We didn't go for dinner, though. Wen Dee wasn't that hungry yet and Rachel, Jia Wen and Andrew took off 15 minutes before we did. Plus, Bi Ying's dad was on the way to pick her. So the number was kind of pitiful. In the end, we went back to the college, where I met up with Joanne to have dinner since I was a little hungry and I couldn't possibly wait till 8pm to eat. I would have starved to death by then.

Well, yeah. This was the only thing worth blogging so far. Got to wait till Thursday, our 7-days-anticipated ICE-SKATING outing! Aaaaaaaaahhhh!!! Heehee. I'm practically hyperventilating already.

Happy 19th Birthday, Andrew!

Cheers to the birthday boy, Anchoo!

So, a whole bunch of us music students, plus some of his CF friends, went to Leisure Mall for lunch as a celebration. Probably, say, 13 or 14 of us? It was great fun, even if I didn't know a couple of the people present. And since I still couldn't get the photos individually from Kevin and Wen Dee, I saved them from their blogs.

When lunch got too bored...

After lunch, we went on with our usual business, e.g. lectures and music classes. Then at around 4.45pm, we met up at Secret Recipe for the second round, but this time it was a surprise party.

Before Andrew arrived...

Just as Andrew was spotted with Kevin walking towards Secret Recipe, we were ushered into the toilet to hide...Not at all heavenly, I tell ya.

No idea what was this pose about...

10 minutes later...out came us, singing the birthday song while Eunice snuck to the kitchen to get the cake!

Andrew with the cake

Blowing off the candles 1 by 1 so that he could have extra wishes...

Just as he was about to cut the cake...Halt!

He was asked to pull out the candles using his teeth! Ugh...

And suddenly...Attack! Someone shoved his head into the 70+ bucks cake!

First day of the new freaking boring semester

“To all Introduction to Probability & Statistics students, today’s class (2/9) is CANCELED. The class will begin next Monday (8/9).”

At first, I (along with Eunice and Ming) just stood there, staring at the paper in disbelief, reading the lines over and over again. Then the words sunk in. WHAT THE FUCK?! My class was fucking CANCELED?! How could they fucking cancel a class just like that?! Did they fucking think everyone lived nearby and just fucking walked to college for classes?! Selfish fucktards. I never knew it was POSSIBLE for a class to be canceled on the FIRST DAY of the semester. But then again, there were tons of stuff I never knew.

Anyway, after expressing our outrage, Eunice proposed we went to the 4th Floor to check on the Film & Arts Appreciation class. HA. It was canceled too. Oo it really pissed me off, you know, but it was mostly because there wasn’t any form of prior notice and I came back to the hostel a day too early (and I had to drag myself out of bed an hour beforehand to get ready for class), not because there wasn’t any class, unless, of course, there would be a replacement one. Sad for Eunice and Ming though, having to rush all the way back from Johor and Pahang, respectively, only to find that there were no classes.

In the end, we informed the rest and decided to fill the time with a lunch since everyone was in college already. Wen Dee and Rachel volunteered to drive, so we split ourselves up into 2 groups: Me, Eunice Ming and Emmanuel took the Wen Dee's car while Jia Wen, Kevin, Andrew and Justin went with Rachel. We left almost immediately, being so damn hungry (at least the rest were). Until 10 minutes had passed upon leaving the campus, we had no inkling whatsoever of where we were heading for lunch. Wen Dee was simply blindly tagging behind Rachel’s car and suddenly 1 of them called to tell us they decided on eating in MidValley. Weee…I LOVE spontaneous outing!

Wen Dee found an empty parking lot almost in the instance we entered the car park. What luck. So we had to do the waiting while Rachel searched for one. When Eunice called Jia Wen to ask about their location, a guy picked up and went, “Good afternoon, this is McDonald’s. What would you like to order?” which made Eunice stare confusingly at the phone. Then she tried again, “Hello? Jia Wen?” The same guy answered, “Hello, this is Air Asia. Would you like to book a plane ticket to Pangkor?” Damn it, it was Kevin. Eunice soooo wanted to strangle him.

For a certain reason, which was unknown to me until we got there, they decided on Domino’s. I mean, why Domino's when there was Pizza Hut? But we went anyway. They were already seated when we arrived and so we plonked ourselves down and started the procedure a normal lunch would require: crap while debating on what to eat, discussing and thinking, finally ordering food, crap while waiting, eat and crap, crap while digesting, then pay the bills and ciao. Oh, and we found out why they chose Domino's: Andrew had never eaten it before. Riiight.

Lunch dragged on to more than an hour, which wasn’t really an issue for me (I love long lunches) if I hadn’t planned on visiting the gym to burn up all the fats I had fed during the 2-week break. On the contrary, I was hoping we would stay to do some accessories shopping or just wander around, the guys would HATE that. But sadly, they were rushing to get home. Oh well. At least the lunch was good enough to extinguish my annoyance about the cancellation of the classes.

P.S. Thank you Rachel, Jia Wen, Kevin and Andrew for the Pangkor bookmark!
